Under fire for making crass remarks, deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar apologised for the second time in two days and said he had made the biggest blunder of his political life.

The Opposition, however, rejected the senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader's apology in the legislature and stalled proceedings for the day.

At a rally on Saturday, Pawar had asked whether he should urinate in dams to provide water. He had also linked power cuts to population growth.

A public apology from NCP chief Sharad Pawar did not break the Opposition's resolve. Last year too, he had apologised after his nephew called himself a rogue and said he would deal with people the way he wanted.
