He tried taking her for a ride. But she refused to be driven round the bend. Instead of being cowed down and shelling out what was being wrongly demanded, she hauled the pay-and-park manager to the police station for trying to cheat her.
On Wednesday, a pay-and -park manager allegedly tried extracting Rs 100 more than the actual fees from a worker with a non-profit organisation.
According to the MRA Marg police, Kiran Hundal, general secretary of Adarsh Samaj Sevak Sangh, had parked her car in the pay and park slot near HSBC Bank at Fort around 11 am on Wednesday.
The space has been contracted to AA Auctioneers.
Hundal returned four hours later to pick up her car when the manager of the pay-and-park lot allegedly demanded Rs 120 from her as parking charges.
When she protested, the accused, identified as Surya Kumar (34), told her that her car was doubled parked and her driver had been informed about the payment.
“I agreed to pay but when I demanded a receipt, Kumar handed me a handwritten slip. On my way out, I saw the BMC signboard displaying Rs 5 as parking charges per hour,” said Hundal.
“When I argued about the cheating, Kumar manhandled me. I lodged a complaint with MRA Marg police station,” said Hundal.
The police have arrested Kumar on charges of cheating and threatening.
“Kumar was presented at the court on Thursday and was remanded in police custody till Saturday,” said Ram Chopde, investigating officer of the case.
