A public hearing held to convince residents about the Peddar Road flyover on Monday had to be adjourned as it turned into a free-for-all. Around 700 residents, who are against constructing the flyover, and 50-60 Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) activists got into a verbal fight.

The MSRDC, however, claimed that it will go ahead with the 4.1km flyover project and will not hold another meeting.

As per the rules, if the meeting is adjourned, another one needs to be undertaken. But there are laws that allow complete cancellation of the hearing if there are frequent disruptions.
