Vhatkar said around 179 history-sheeters had been rounded up as a preventive measure, while 582 had been booked for unruly behaviour in public places under the influence of alcohol.

While the police booked 361 motorists for driving drunk, the traffic police claimed to have arrested 497 drunk drivers in the same period.

While the traffic police booked 54 motorists for rash and dangerous driving, 107 were booked for violating traffic rules, and 604 others for petty offences such as fights.
