The police have detained the business partner of Versova-based developer Sarfaraz Khan, who was found murdered in his car on January 22.

The police suspect Khan’s murder was a result of a business dispute. Earlier, they had suspected that Khan’s friend, a bar girl identified as Mannat, was involved. However, after questioning her, they have, as of now, ruled out her involvement in the case.

After receiving the details of Khan’s mobile phone records, the police found 21 numbers from where calls were made or received. During investigations, the police learnt that Khan, who was into real estate development in the western suburbs, had a dispute with his partner over the financial matter in a project.

Senior police inspector of Santacruz police station, Madhukar Chaudhari, said, “We cannot reveal the name of the person unless we find something concrete against him.”

Khan’s body was found in the rear seat of his Honda Civic on January 22.
