The Khar police have sent four teams to different locations across the city and the country to trace the absconding 42-year-old private tutor, Ramchandra Nadar, accused of raping a 13-year-old girl.
According to KMM Prasanna, deputy commissioner of police zone IX, each team includes four officers who have been sent to different locations where they expect to find Nadar.
The DCP however did not give any details about the places where teams have been sent.
The police officers from Khar police station said that Nadar's relatives stay in Chennai and there is a possibility that he might be hiding there until the investigations were over.
“Although Nadar's relatives are disgusted by his act and there are less chances of him going to Chennai, we are not taking any chances and trying to find out about his friends and relatives back home,” said a police officer from Khar.
The Khar police are also keeping a close watch on his family members in the city. On June 2, the victim’s parents lodged a complaint against Nadar after a relative spotted him in an objectionable position with the victim.
Nadar was helping the victim with her studies since December as she had learning disabilities. He used to come to her home in the afternoon when her parents were at work.
