The Nehru Nagar police have registered a case against an unidentified man who tried to abduct and molest an eight-year-old girl in a building in Sabri Nagar, Kurla (East) on Tuesday.

The police said that an unidentified man allegedly approached the victim, a resident of Makdawala compound in V B Nagar, Kurla (West), and asked her to help him find the address of one ‘Subhash’.

The accused then allegedly lured the girl with a cold drink and took her to the terrace of a building in Sabri Nagar. On reaching there, when the accused found the terrace door locked, he dragged her to the second floor and allegedly molested her.

"She somehow managed to escape from his clutches and started shouting for help," said a relative of the victim.

As the locals headed to help the girl, the accused escaped from the spot.

The case was transferred to V B Nagar police station on Wednesday.

Assistant Police Inspector S. Mane of V.B. Nagar police station said that the girl is in a state of shock. He said that the sketches of the accused will be made on the basis of the description given by the girl.

In February, the bodies of two minor girls, who were allegedly raped and murdered, were found on the terrace of two buildings in Nehru Nagar.
