The Kurla police nabbed a man who was on the run after the murder of an 18-year-old girl at Nanded. Twenty-one-year-old Swapnil Waghmare was actually chased down for stealing a bike on Monday night, police said.

Waghmare, a final year Arts student at a Nanded college, allegedly stabbed Mayuri Bharade, 18, at her hostel on Thursday, after she refused to marry him, and fled to Mumbai.

The Kurla police arrested Waghmare from near Sainath Chowk in Kurla (West).

SG Bhalerao, senior inspector of Kurla police station, said, “On Monday night there was a bike theft case registered. Within three hours, our officers nabbed Swapnil Waghmare who was riding the stolen bike. We arrested him on charges of theft but the truth came out during interrogation.”
