The Shivaji Park police have prepared sketches of two of the four robbers who looted Rs 6.8 lakh from the employees of Brinks Arya, a private security company, who were carrying cash collected from BEST depots at Worli and Dadar.
The incident took place on Thursday evening when two employees of Brinks Arya were on their way to deposit cash collected from the bus depots into the bank Automatic Teller Machine (ATM).
According to Atul Bandawitekar (the complainant) the two were their way to the bank on bikes, when they were intercepted by a Maruti Esteem car on Senapati Bapat Road.
Bandawitekar stopped to check what had happened, when four men armed with choppers and knives allegedly stepped out of the vehicle.
They threatened Bandawitekar and his colleague with weapons and asked them to hand over the bag containing cash in Rs 7 lakh. They threatened him and snatched the bag.
The four then fled in the car and Bandwitekar managed to note down the car's number. Police later found the car abandoned near Matunga railway station.
Based on details given by Bandawitekar and his colleague, police artists have prepared sketches of two of the four suspects.
The sketches have been circulated to police stations and units across the city to check if the suspects have any record at any of those police stations.
“The victim only remembers the faces of two of the robbers,” said Suresh Unawane, senior police inspector of Shivaji Park police station.
