The Oshiwara police are searching for the bakery owner, along with his three friends who had allegedly kidnapped and tortured actor and pop singer Ali Quli Mirza.

They allegedly kidnapped him early Tuesday morning and held him captive for 26 hours.

Following a complaint by Mirza, the police, on Wednesday, had arrested two men, Mohammed Hyder (27) and Mohammed Salim (26) who along with the wanted accused were involved in the kidnapping.

“Both the accused have been remanded to police custody till April 27. We are searching for Nasir Khan, the mastermind, along with his three friends,” said Dilip Suryavanshi, assistant commissioner of police, DN nagar adding that the police are also looking for the car in which Mirza was kidnapped.

The police said both Hyder and Salim worked at Goregaon’s Eagle bakery owned by Khan.

Mirza, who had acted in films like New York and Jail was kidnapped by the accused while he was returning to his residence at Veera Desai road in Andheri West. "The accused had pulled Mirza into Khan's Lexus and had taken him to the bakery," said an officer.

The police said that the accused suspected Mirza of having robbed Khan’s valuables worth around 1.39 lakh. Both Mirza and Khan frequented a gym in Oshiwara.

“The arrested accused claimed that when Khan’s valuables were found missing from his locker, he suspected Mirza. He planned the kidnapping with his friends to force him to confess the crime,” added Suryavanshi.

Mirza in his complaint had said he was beaten and given electric shocks.

On Wednesday Mirza had managed to escape and approach the Amboli police station from where the case was transferred to the Oshiwara police station.
