The team from Santacruz police — now in Uttar Pradesh to trace the 22-year-old house help, Sunil, who fled with cash and valuables worth Rs80,000 after allegedly killing his employer on Wednesday — has still not found him.
Sunil, who was appointed by 56-year-old Aarti Chablani just 10 days ago, reportedly killed her by hitting with a heavy object on the head. He fled after stealing Rs50,000 in cash and a mobile phone kept in the drawer.
According to the police, the residents of Mukta Angan building have failed in providing any leads on Sunil.
Since Aarti had interviewed Sunil, the identity of the person who had referred Sunil to the Chablanis still remains unknown.
Sunil had apparently offered a chocolate laced with sedative to the other servant at the Chablani residence, Devendra Upadhay.
After consuming the sweet, Upadhay fell unconscious. Sunil, then, proceeded to the bedroom and after tying Aarti’s legs hit her with a heavy object on the head, killing her on the spot.
Despite several attempts, Sunil failed in breaking open the electronic safe in the house.
On receiving information that Sunil could have fled to his hometown, the police team left for Uttar Pradesh. “We have booked Sunil for murder and robbery. The police team that has gone to Uttar Pradesh is trying to track him,” said Madhukar Chaudhari, senior police inspector, Santacruz police station.
