The Chembur police are tracing the phone records of the slain suspected Ravi Pujari aide Anand Dengale (34), who was killed in a police encounter on Friday, to find if he had communicated with his associates before he entered the builde’s home on Friday.

The police said Dengale had been booked in five to six cases of extortion in Thane and Mumbai. “We suspect Dengale had been accompanied by his aides when he entered Kaveri building in the Diamond Garden area,” said a police officer.

“We are trying to trace call records of his mobile phone to get information about people victimised by him in the past,” he said. The police have tracked the personal details of Dengale.

The alleged gangster had completed his Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication engineering after which he tried his luck in the city working with private sector firms.
