The Gamdevi police, who is investigating the murder case of a senior citizen, told the court on Saturday that they want to further probe the role of the woman arrested for allegedly killing her sister-in-law and injuring her mother-in-law.
Ila Gandhi, 60, and her mother Champaben, 78, were attacked at their Peddar Road flat on last Tuesday. While Ila died, Champaben was rushed to the hospital in an unconscious state. After regaining consciousness, Champaben pointed towards Ila’s brother Deepak’s servant Ramchandra Gomane.
While Gomane confessed to the crime, he also revealed a family feud that had led to the killing. Gomane told the police that Deepak’s wife Rupal had given him a contract to kill Ila and Champaben.
The police have told the court that they need to further interrogate Gomane and Rupal of their alleged role in the crime.
According to the police, Gomane had for his marriage taken a loan of Rs 30,000 from Rupal seven months ago and over the months, he returned Rs 7000. Rupal, who wanted to acquire her mother-in-law’s Peddar Road flat worth crores, told Gomane that she would give him Rs 5,000 and would waive off the loan amount if he killed the two elderly women.
