The Bandra police have said that the Supreme Court order cancelling Alistair Pereira’s bail application and upholding the Bombay high court judgment of three years’ imprisonment in the 2006 hit-and-run case has not reached them yet.

Alistair had surrendered at the Sewree sessions court on Monday but was sent back home as the copy of the order had not arrived. “We are expecting to receive the Supreme Court order this week. Once we receive it, Alistair will be taken into custody and sent to jail,” said Pratap Dighavkar, deputy commissioner of police (zone 9).

Alistair had mowed down 15 people sleeping on the pavement in Bandra, in November 2006, of which six died.
