Policeman hit me, claims mulund resident

mumbai Updated: Aug 24, 2010 01:23 IST

A complainant who approached the Mulund police a fortnight ago to register a kidnapping case after his daughter went missing, has alleged that he was manhandled by a police officer on Monday, when he wanted to withdraw his complaint.

Around two weeks ago, Shedge’s daughter went missing but after his daughter returned home he did not want to pursue the case further.

Dilip Shedge (45), a resident of Vaishali Nagar in Mulund, claimed that inspite of informing the assistant police inspector Srirang Bhosle that his daughter had returned two days back, he refused to quash the FIR and also bashed him up.

An FIR registered can only be quashed if the court directs the police station to do so. “When I approached Bhosle, he told me the FIR cannot be quashed. He started arguing with me and hit me,” said Shedge.

According to Shedge, Senior Police Inspector P. B. Landge was also present when the incident took place. He did not intervene. Landge said, “ The allegations are totally baseless and nothing like that happened.” Bhosle has also rubbished the charges.
