Film enthusiasts can enjoy a host of French-Canadian films in the city from January 28 to 31 as part of the Québec Film Utsav organised by the Mumbai University’s French Department and the local Quebec Government Office.
Quebec has forged special ties with the varsity’s French department. The films included have a wide thematic diversity.
“Through their works, the directors provide a lucid and very personal perspective on the evolution of Quebec society over time, with a healthy splash of humour, irony and even satire,” said Vidya Vencatesan, who heads the university’s French department.
“Hopefully this event shall help my students discover the pleasure of sharing a cutting chai with another film buff, sitting on the steps of the Chavan Centre, as they debate hotly over the cinematic representation of a certain cultural construct,” added Vencatesan.
(Admission is free. The schedule is available at: www.quebec-india.in/cinema) HTC
