Gandhi, who will be in Mumbai on Friday, may extend his tour by a day after a request from state youth Congress president Vishwajit Kadam. As usual, Gandhi will try to be as discreet as possible and keep senior state leaders at bay while touring rural areas. Last year, Gandhi had sprung a surprise by visiting families of agitating farmers who were killed in police firing in Maval near Pune. Similarly, his visit to a suicide-affected cotton belt in Vidarbha had caught Congress leaders unawares.
Meanwhile, Congress’ student, youth and senior wings continued to contemplate what would transpire when Gandhi interacted with them at indoor meetings in Friday in Mumbai.
The Youth Congress has invited around 1,500 delegates to attend Gandhi’s function at 9.30am at Bhaidas Hall in Juhu-Vile Parle.
He will then visit the Congress headoffice at Tilak Bhavan at 12 pm to hold a discussion with block and district presidents from across the state on organisational matters. After this, he will also have a discussion with state and city Congress office-bearers.
At 1 pm at Matunga’s Indian Gymkhana, Gandhi will discuss local problems with newly elected civic representatives.
