Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley today alleged that Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology A Raja was "trying to wriggle out" of the 2G spectrum allocation scam.

"There has been corruption in the 2G spectrum allocation and Raja is trying to escape the allegations," Jailey told reporters on the sidelines of state BJP legislature meeting to elect a new leader.

Jaitley has demanded that Raja should not stay in office in the interest of a fair investigation into the "biggest scandal since Independence" which he claimed amounted to of Rs 60,000 crore.

In the wake of Jaitley and BJP's allegations, Raja said the BJP-led NDA government had distributed free spectrum to operators in what he called "biggest ever scam" that deprived the exchequer of over Rs 1,60,000 crore revenue
