Former Navy officer Emile Jerome, who is serving a 10-year prison term for killing media executive Neeraj Grover in 2008, has dragged producers of the film Not a Love Story, director Ram Gopal Verma, and exhibitors UTV Software Communications Ltd to court.
Jerome has sought action against them for purported contempt of court and perjury alleging they had made a false and misleading statement before the high court.
In August 2011, Jerome had approached the court seeking stay on releasing the film, as the sequences of events were similar to the Grover murder. The court allowed the release of the movie after the producer and director assured the court that the film was fiction.
Emile has approached the high court again with separate litigations against Bohra Brothers and Verma alleging that the facts about the film were misrepresented to the court. “It is apparent on watching the film that there are great similarities between the storyline of the film and circumstances of Grover's murder of which Jerome is convicted,” his petition said, adding, “The film, to a great extent, is based on the confession of his fiancée and co-convict in the case, Kannada actress Maria Susairaj.”
According to him, the three central characters in film, Robin, Anusha Chawla and Ashish Bhatnagar, chronicled the lives of Jerome, Susairaj and Grover.
The film shows that the murder took place at Dheeraj Solitaire in Malad – the same place where Jerome allegedly killed Grover.
