Nitesh Rane-led Swabhimaan Sanghathana is ready to support Raj Thackeray on the water issue.
“In the interest of common man we would take up this issue with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena,” said Rane, head of the NGO, on Thursday.
On Tuesday, the MNS chief, Raj Thackeray, had met municipal commissioner Swadheen Kshatriya at the municipal corporation headquarters and questioned him about why the laws on rainwater harvesting were not being implemented.
Thackeray also asked the municipal corporation to keep a check on the water mafia — this issue was earlier taken up by Nitesh, son of Revenue Minister Narayan Rane.
When asked about the MNS chief hijacking the water issue, Rane said, “There is no question of hijacking. Our flight is already in the air and they are yet to take a seat in the flight.”
“Instead of allowing digging of new wells and borewells, the municipal corporation should act as a watch dog and save the current wells that can provide water to the citizens rather than allowing them to be used to sell water illegally,” said Rane.
