‘Rapist’ dad in custody until Thursday
The 41-year-old man arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping his daughter during the last week of April, was produced in court on Sunday and has been remanded in police custody till Thursday.
The 41-year-old man arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping his daughter during the last week of April, was produced in court on Sunday and has been remanded in police custody till Thursday.
The accused, Hemant Namdev Dhure worked as a watchman and his wife had been living separately since 15 years due to his drinking habits. Dhure lived with his 18-year-old daughter in a slum in Bhayander.
He used to threaten the girl from mentioning the incident to anyone. Recently when the victim went to her mother’s house in Sawantwadi, she confided in her. Her mother registered a complaint with the Bhayander police on Saturday, after which, he was arrested.
Sub-inspector Pravin Sawant said: “Dhure has not confessed. The victim said in her statement that he forced her to undergo an abortion after she got pregnant. The victim is in Bhagwati Hospital and undergoing tests.”
