Himanshu Roy, joint commissioner of police, crime, said a speeding train is believed to have hit Borude while he was near a level crossing at Srirampur around 11.45am. Locals found him lying near the tracks with multiple injuries on his chest, shoulders and head. He was rushed to Kamgar Hospital at Ahmednagar, but since his condition was critical, he was shifted to a super specialty hospital at Shirdi on doctors’ advice. “He was declared dead before arrival at the hospital in Shirdi,” said Roy.

Additional superintendent of police, Ahmednagar, Sunil Kadafne said Borude’s brother, Prakash, identified him. Borude’s police identity card was also found on him.
