Home minister RR Patil, on Thursday, said that police stations in the state have been directed to register all complaints related to atrocities committed against women.
He said that such complaints can be filed with local police stations and also with the in-charge of the city or district such as the deputy commissioner of police or superintendent of police for effective action.
In reply to a question raised by Neelam Gorhe (Shiv Sena) in the legislative council, the minister said that the amendments proposed by the central government in the existing criminal Acts would be implemented by the state in toto.
Patil said that the Centre has proposed amendment to make cases under section 354 (outraging the modesty of woman) of IPC non-bailable and stringent punishment for cases under section 376 (rape) and 509 (act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of IPC.
Patil said that the department has organised workshops and seminars for the police personnel for sensitisation on cases of crimes against women.
