mumbai Updated: Jun 16, 2011 01:30 IST

A rickshaw driver was stabbed on Tuesday evening in Juhu. The victim, Anil Thakur, 26, sustained deep cuts on his stomach and leg and was admitted to Cooper hospital in Juhu. The police have registered a case of attempt to murder against the accused, Ashok Yadav.

Thakur used to park his rickshaw near Gate no. 2 on the VM Road in Juhu. Yadav, who is unemployed, would do petty jobs for people.

Police said at around 5pm, Yadav demanded money from Thakur, who insisted he would only pay him for washing his autorickshaw. When Thakur refused, a heated argument ensued between them.

Police inspector Aziz Bagwan from Juhu police station said: “Yadav took out a knife from his bag and stabbed Thakur, injuring him badly. Other rickshaw drivers chased Yadav and handed him over to the police.”
