The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) head office at the Matoshree building at Shivaji Park was broken into between Saturday night and Monday morning.

A safe, containing pass books, cheque books along with Rs 5,000 cash, is missing.

“The employees had left on Saturday night,” said an officer from Shivaji Park police station on condition of anonymity because he is not authorised to talk to the media.

“When they returned the next day around 10.30am, the grille on one of the windows along with the safe was broken and missing.”

The party’s headquarters had been shifted to the Matoshree building around six months ago.
The police have registered a case of house break-in against unidentified persons.

“There is always a security personnel outside the office,” said senior police inspector
S Unaine, of the Shivaji Park police station. “We suspect the accused gained entry from the rear end of the building. Investigations are on in the case.”
