Planning a summer vacation with family, friends or alone, but you’d rather not splurge on a fancy hotel? Log onto three websites that facilitate bookings for budget accommodations across several Indian destinations.
Graduates from Oxford University and IIM Calcutta started Roomwale.com in October 2011. The website facilitates bookings for 600 properties across 17 cities. You can choose from guest houses, budget hotels and serviced apartments. Those looking for a longer vacation can opt for a month-long stay at a 30% discount on the usual walk-in tariff. Guests can claim a full refund, in case the property doesn’t match up to its description on the website.
Choose from over 3,000 guesthouses, bed and breakfast accommodations, inns, motels and serviced apartments on MyGuestHouse.com. The website’s director, Prashant Chauhan, claims that a dedicated team personally checks all properties before listing them. He also ensures that all properties are integrated to Google maps so that travellers, especially those on a road trip, are not lost looking for properties located in the interiors.
Shan Gehlot, an IIT Bombay graduate, started MyIndianStay in November 2011. The website has 200 properties, including a holiday villa in Goa, a quaint apartment in Manali and a duplex in Delhi. Besides guest houses, it also has several independently-owned private properties. After a stay is complete, both guests and hosts can review their experiences with each other.
