Home minister RR Patil batted for ACP Vasant Dhoble in the legislature on Wednesday. He even defended Dhoble’s ‘hockey stick’ raid approach, as legislators in the council expressed their reservation over the methods by which these raids had been conducted.
Dhoble, who heads the social services branch, had hit the headlines with the raids he was conducting on pubs and restaurants conducting rave parties and violating rules under which they have been granted licences.
“We will stand by police officials who are doing good work. If he had a hockey stick with him and his intention was bona fide, and he was not trying to extract any money, we stand by him,” Patil said, while replying to a question raised by legislator Anil Bhonsale about the rave party busted by the police in Juhu’s Oakwood hotel on May 25.
