State Home Minister RR Patil has kicked off a campaign on his personal blog appealing to people to help educate children in the naxal infested Gadchiroli district.
He has appealed to education barons to invest in the area so that more children can get education.
Patil, who is the guardian minister of the district, has adopted 51 children housed at Netaji Subhashchandra Bose Military School’s dormitories and will support their education.
On his blog, Patil tells how 132 villages in Gadchiroli do not have roads, electricity and how the naxal fear keeps parents from sending children to schools.
“A befitting answer to Naxalite uprising is bringing about revolutionary growth in the distric and real change will come about through education,” the blog reads.
Requesting educationists to build schools in these villages, the bog said, “I am trying to raise the standard of government schools and with the help of teachers I hope to bring a change in the prevalent conditions.”
