The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), on Monday, declared a rehabilitation package of Rs. 30 crore for the 765 families whose land was acquired by the state government to raise the height of the Barvi dam on the Kalyanthane river near Thane.

“For the past 13 years, these people have been fighting for justice. I am very happy that the MIDC has sanctioned the rehabilitation package of Rs. 30 crore. Our basic demand for the government to give a special rehabilitation package has been accepted,” said MLA Kishan Kathore.

According to the sanctioned package, each affected family will get at least Rs. 4 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh more as compensation to the value of their land and houses.
