The Shiv Sena lashed out at Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Thursday via party mouthpiece Saamna.
In an editorial titled My name is Ashok Khan, the party alleged that Chavan had ordered Wednesday's police crackdown on Shiv Sainiks to please Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
It also said the chief minister would “soon be recognised as a national hero in Pakistan”. “Well done, Chavan! For the manner in which you are running the state administration, you deserve to be the chief minister of (Pakistan provinces) Peshawar or Balochistan,” the editorial said. htc
Todi link to boycott call in Kolkata
Kolkata: Imam Barkati of the Tipu Sultan mosque here has issued a fatwa against the film My Name is Khan, slated for release on Friday.
“Not only should you not go to see the film, you should also ask your neighbours not to do so,” he said.
The fatwa comes following Khan’s tying up with Ashok Todi’s Lux Cozi as one of the title sponsors for Kolkata Knight Riders, the cricket team he owns in the Indian Premier League.
Todi is under trial for allegedly aiding and abetting the suicide of Rizwanur Rehman, whose body was found near the railway tracks in Kolkata in 2007.
Rizwanur had married Todi’s daughter Priyanka against the wishes of her family. Khan’s character in the film is called Rizwan.
“Khan should have known better than to tie up with a blacklisted man, who is party to the death of a Muslim youth,” Barkati told HT.
