Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s proposed elevation to the Rajya Sabha smacks of dirty politics by the Congress, Shiv Sena patriarch Bal Thackeray has said.
“We are proud of Sachin, but what will one do in Rajya Sabha? This is the real dirty picture of Congress, their dirtiest play,” Thackeray said on Sunday.
Earlier, an editorial in the Sena mouthpiece Saamna said, “Sachin has a huge following the Congress hopes to ride on.”
The Congress state unit reacted by questioning the Sena’s motives in nominating industrialists like Rajkumar Dhoot and producer Pritish Nandy to the Rajya Sabha.
