The Colaba police is recording statements of all parties involved in the brawl involving actor Saif Ali Khan and South African businessman Iqbal Sharma.

A staff member at Wasabi restaurant at Taj Mahal hotel, where the brawl allegedly took place, had reportedly told the police that Khan had provoked Sharma before punching him first on February 21.

Rajeev Waval, inspector, Colaba police station, said, “We are in the process of recording statements of those present at the spot.” The police had recorded the statements of 16 witnesses till Saturday.

The Colaba police had earlier said that the CCTV cameras did not cover the spot where the incident took place and hence they would rely on statements of those present at the spot. The police will also be recording the statements of Sharma’s family.

Khan allegedly roughed up Sharma who was present at Wasabi restaurant with his family. Sharma alleged that Khan also manhandled his father-in-law.
