My Name is Khan was screened in Jalgaon on Saturday even after Shiv Sainiks slashed the screen of the single-screen theatre. The film could not be screened in Jalgaon on Friday after Sainiks asked theatre owners to refrain.

Natraj Theatre in Jalgaon screened the first show on Saturday. Sainiks demonstrated outside the theatre and pelted stones. Police arrested 30 Sainiks, including former Sena legislator, Gulabrao Patil.

Around 45 minutes into the screening, some Sainiks who had managed to enter the theatre tore the screen.

“We were able to catch four of them but the fifth managed to reach the screen and slashed it with a razor,” said Superintendent of Police, Santosh Rastogi. Police rushed to the theatre but the screening continued on the damaged screen.

“It was decided mutually as it sends a positive message across. Screenings after the incident were peaceful,” Rastogi said. Zeeshan Shaikh
