Residents of Willingdon Colony, the Catholic housing society in Santacruz (W), alleged that some people armed with sticks and hammers began demolishing the gate of a house.
They alleged that a developer, who has bought 5.5 acres of the colony from the society’s managing committee without the residents’ consent, had hired the men. The police denied the incident. “The men were only taking out luggage on the orders from its owners, who are not living there now,” said senior police inspector Madhukar Chaudhary.
Catholic Secular Forum, an organisation leading protests against the colony’s managing panel, has promised to take up the issue.
