Former law minister Ram Jethmalani’s daughter and SC lawyer Rani Jethmalani, 52, died in Mumbai on Saturday.
She was admitted at the Breach Candy Hospital earlier in December, but was discharged few days ago. She soon developed complications and died of blood stream infection at her south Mumbai residence, said hospital sources.
Rani, also a social activist, had gone through kidney and liver replacements, said sources.
Nobody from the Jethmalani family, including her father and brother, Mahesh, who is a senior lawyer at Bombay high court, were available for comments.
She was cremated at the Chandanwadi crematorium. A prayer meeting will be held at the KC College Auditorium on Monday between 4:30pm and 6:30pm.
Condoling her death, Supreme Court Bar Association’s former secretary Ashok Arora said, “It’s a great loss to the legal profession. Rani was one of the best professionals and a wonderful human being.”
