Seminar to strengthen bond between public, cops

On the second anniversary of The Protector, an exclusive magazine exclusively for the police fraternity, the New Media group launched a nationwide seminar on ‘Cop-community connect for a safer tomorrow.’

In the first of the series, a seminar was held at the Indian Merchants Chamber in Churchgate. The session was attended by several and retired police officers and top policemen.

Around 150 professionals from across the country attended the seminar. Former Mumbai police commissioner Julio Rebeiro; Dr Rukmani Krishnamurthy, forensic scientist; additional chief secretary (home) UC Sarangi; Pravin Dixit, DGP and MD, Maharashtra Police Housing Corporation; chief fire officer HN Mujawar and Dr P Sekhar, CMD, Micro Technologies (India) Ltd; Ronnie Mendonca, former Mumbai police commissioner and ADG (retd) Subhash Avate were among those present.

The agenda of the seminar was to highlight and better the relationship between the police and public to build a safer tomorrow. “To deliver effectively, it is important to be a good leader which is possible only when one has right values,” said Sarangi.

The book Security Requirements of Mumbai — A National Perspective by Dr P Sekhar was launched at the event.
