The Shiv Sena has continued its tirade against Team Anna and his supporters, with fresh remarks on Monday in its mouthpiece ‘Saamna’ against actor Om Puri who gave a speech at the Ramlila Maidan.

The comments made in Saamna are viewed as those of Sena chief Bal Thackeray. “Puri raised accusations against Members of Parliament and politicians terming them as ‘thieves’. Can he tell us with confidence that he has always taken his remuneration fully through a cheque payment and never in cash? The Hindi cinema world is one of the most corrupt fields. Most of the black money and funds of gangsters sees its way into this industry,” the editorial said.

Puri, reacting to the editorial on Monday, has tendered his apology for his oratory. “I did not intend to insult the Constitution or any of the legislators. I got emotional by the atmosphere and said things that I should not have. I apologise for the same,” he said.

On Friday, the Saamna editorial accused Team Anna, including Bedi and Kejriwal, of ‘playing with Anna’s life’ and using him to settle their personal scores with the government. The editorial pointed out that while Anna was fasting, his team was still continuing their two-time meal along with snacks four times a day.

The Sena chief had also written a letter to Hazare appealing him to end his fast and let his team continue the fast while he led the campaign.
