In an indication of the growing rift between the 25-year-old alliance partners the Shiv Sena and the BJP, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Friday slammed the BJP for “joining hands with the Congress” in Aurangabad civic body election.

In the election for the post of chairman of standing committee of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation, BJP’s Raju Shinde defeated the Sena candidate, with Congress’s support. “Our friend was diluted in Aurangabad and Hindutva has been weakened,” the Saamna editorial said.
