Reacting to the special court's verdict on Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab in 26/11 attacks case, Shiv Sena and VHP today demanded that he be executed as early as possible.
"Kasab should be hanged for killing innocents as soon as possible," Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut said.
He also criticised the State Government's failure in convicting Sabauddin Ahmed and Fahim Ansari, the alleged Indian co-conspirators of the attacks.
Raut credited Kasab's conviction to slain assistant sub-inspector Tukaram Ombale, who was shot dead by the AK-47 wielding terrorist at Girgaum Chowpatty in south Mumbai.
Addressing a press conference in Hubli, VHP General Secretary Pravin Togadia said, "Kasab should now be sent to the gallows along with Afzal Guru who masterminded the attack on Parliament in 2002, at the earliest."
Sena ally BJP too welcomed the verdict of the court. BJP MP Gopinath Munde said he is satisfied with the decision convicting Kasab for the attacks.
"The court verdict has given relief to the people of Mumbai who faced the terror attack. It was an attack on the country and should have been answered in this manner," Munde said.
