On Monday, activists of the Bharatiya Chitrapat Sena (BCS), led by their president Abhijit Panse, marched to the Sony TV office and demanded immediate removal of the character from the show, Comedy Circus.

“We will not tolerate anyone making fun of eminent persons,” said Panse.

He was upset with actors Sudesh and Krushna making fun of the singer during the show. “We will not tolerate anyone making fun of Lata didi, who is a Bharat Ratna awardee and an icon in the film industry,” said Panse.

"If the young generation watches these type of shows then they won't understand the meaning of respect. Therefore, we have given a letter to the channel asking it to immediately drop the character from the show."

"We are not against humour, but to ridicule someone like Lata Mangeshkar is highly objectionable," he added.
