A senior Central Government official and his wife were arrested on Saturday by the CBI for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to their income.

Additional Commissioner in Excise Department V K Agarwal and his wife Prameela, a head clerk in Central Railway, were apprehended from their residence in Matunga, central Mumbai, by sleuths of the agency's anti-corruption wing, CBI Joint Director R R Singh said.
