The Powai police is on the lookout for Arun Borude, senior police inspector of LT Marg police station, accused of raping a 15-year-old girl from Powai.

The officer added, “We have questioned Borude’s neighbours and relatives. But they seem to be unaware about his whereabouts. We also tried to find out if the senior inspector would have informed any of the accused including Gaikwad, Chandrabhan Gupta and Mohanchand Shyam about his location. The accused however claim to have had no communication with Borude since the case came in the open.”

Borude’s last location was traced to a hotel in Khandala two days ago. “The room was booked in somebody else’s name. We are unable to trace him after he left the hotel,” said a senior officer, on condition of anonymity.

“We have informed police stations across the state to pass on any information about Borude’s whereabouts. His flat at the Emerald Court Apartment in the Kondivita area was found locked. Borude went on sick leave since November 8 when the investigations were underway.”

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sakinaka Division), N Sherkhane said: “We have the custody of Gupta and Mohan and will try to find out about the senior inspector’s whereabouts.”
