Barely four months after she got married, Meena Singh was heading for a divorce.

Meena, then 24, tried her luck as a hawker selling spices and plastic toys. Then a few young girls from the area approached her with a request to provide them a room for a few hours to spend time with their boy friends at Rs 100 per hour. Meena agreed. Soon, more girls and even men started approaching her.

Meena’s network spread and her income began rising. She “supplied” struggling models and actresses to serve the high profile clients.

During her interrogation, Meena told the police that more than 30 per cent of the women on her “supply list” were housewives.
