Actor Shiney Ahuja, arrested for allegedly raping his maid, was reduced to tears on Friday in the fast track court and complained of severe back pain.
Ahuja (32), clad in grey T-shirt and blue jeans, limped as he entered the courtroom with the support of two police constables. Visibly in severe pain, he went into a crouched position soon after sitting down on a bench.
As the court heard his case, he suddenly broke down in pain. The constables took him outside the courtroom, where they helped him lie down on a bench. After the hearing, Ahuja, who couldn’t walk by then, was led out in a semi-conscious state.
His lawyer Samir Nagre moved an application in the court saying the actor has a history of back pain from a slip disc. The court directed jail authorities to give him whatever medical treatment was needed. “If the jail authorities feel he should be moved to a hospital, he can be moved,” the court said.
Ahuja’s wife Anupama and his parents were by his side till he was taken back to Arthur Road Jail.
On Friday, the court had rejected an application moved by Ahuja seeking copies of the forensic reports of the actor and the victim. The court said it would hear arguments for the framing of charges against the actor on October 7.
Ahuja has been in custody for three months since his arrest on June 15. The court had earlier rejected his bail application saying prima facie there is a case against the actor.
The Oshiwara police recently filed a 109-page chargesheet against Ahuja, including the forensic and other documentary evidence. The chargesheet also consists of 12 witnesses' statements and the statement of the victim recorded before the magistrate.
