Shiv Sena corporator and builder Nitin Waringe was shot dead by two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants at his building site in Shivajinagar on Friday.

Additional commissioner of police Chandrakant Ughade said, “Two unknown bike-borne assailants fired four rounds at Waringe. He suffered serious injuries in his stomach and was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital.

His relatives soon shifted him to the AIMS Hospital in Dombivli, where he succumbed to his injuries.”

In 2009, Sameer Gosavi, Waringe’s nephew was shot dead, following land dispute.

Waringe had several cases registered against him, the police said.

His brother Pandharinath is a notorious criminal, who was earlier attached with the Chotta Rajan gang through Gopal Rajwani, Rajan’s aide in Ulhasnagar.

Following Waringe’s death, the local party unit has called for a bandh on Saturday.
