After its defeat in Maharashtra Assembly polls, Shiv Sena has geared up to go in masses by starting a membership drive Wednesday across the state.
"With an idea to have the party member in every house and the Sena branch at every village, the drive has been started on birth anniversary of Mina Thackeray, wife of Sena chief Bal Thackeray," a senior Sena leader said.
The drive would go till January 23, the birthday of Thackeray and the party activists have given target of completing 40 to 50 lakh members this year, the leader said. Every district would make 1.5 lakh members, he added.
The saffron ally of Sena, BJP is also running a membership drive across the state.
