Navraj Thapa, brother of Minakshi, the 26-year-old model whose severed body was found in Allahabad on Wednesday, said his sister was identified by the clothes she was wearing when she was killed.

“Her roommate, who had accompanied us to Allahabad, had said that Minakshi was wearing a brown T-shirt and blue jeans when she left with the accused on March 12. She identified the clothes on the body after the accused directed us to the spot,” said Navraj, former army personnel.

Besides, said Ajay Thapa, Minakshi’s 40-year-old brother-in-law, she was also identified by a birthmark on her right leg.

“We spent at least two days in Allahabad. The accused directed the police to Daraganj in Allahabad where her corpse was recovered,” said Ajay.

Minakhsi, a resident of Dehradun, used to live with her father, Bora, 58, her mother, Kamla, 55, and brother, Navraj until she came to the city to work in the Hindi film industry. Her sister, Hanu, 32 is married to Ajay.

In early March, Minakshi met the accused, Amitkumar Jaiswal, 36, and his employee, Preeti Surin, 26, both natives of Allahabad, on the sets of the film ‘Heroine’. On March 12, after convincing Thapa that there was a prospective modelling assignment for her in Uttar Pradesh, the trio left the city. In Allahabad, the duo severed the woman’s head and threw it off during transit in a bus near Allahabad. Her body was dumped in a water tank.

“Minakshi’s mother is in a state of shock. Her health has deteriorated. She hardly speaks to anyone,” said Ajay.
