Former Minister of State and Shiv Sena leader Uttamprakash Khandare has been booked for allegedly molesting a college student.
The incident took place at government guest house on Sunday. The girl used to work at Khandare’s residence as a domestic help and is now a law student, said the police.
According the girl’s complaint, Khandare called her to the guest house and tired to get physical with her but she escaped. She immediately rushed to the nearest police chowky. The police went to the guest house but Khandare had left the place.
Khandare was Sena MLA during 1994-1999 and was elected from Solapur city. He was Minister of State for Sports.
Talking to mediapersons later, Khadare alleged political conspiracy. He named senior NCP leader and minister Laxman Dhoble as the mastermind behind the incident. Khadare said he had raised doubts about Dhoble’s caste certificate and challenged it in the Bombay High Court.
Khandare had contested the Assembly election against Dhoble from Mohol constituency in Solapur district.
Dhoble denied the charge. “I have nothing to do with the incident.”
