You will soon be able to book prepaid taxis outside Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus instead of haggling with uncooperative cabbies.
The Central Railways (CR) has given permission to set up prepaid booths on the premises and start the service outside the terminus.
“The spot to start the service has been fixed and all permissions from the railways have been received. All that remains are legal formalities with the railways and the union such as signing the agreement, deciding the prepaid fare and so on.
“The service will begin at the earliest,” said a senior Regional Transport Officer (RTO) from Tardeo RTO, requesting anonymity due to the ongoing code of conduct. Railway officials confirmed that necessary permissions had been issued last week and they were all set to start the service.
“The service was delayed over location problems. CR was ready to start it at platform 18, while the state government insisted that we start it outside CST,” said a senior railway official, requesting anonymity.
Currently, Dadar station and LTT have a prepaid taxi service.
