The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has decided to set up special cells at all major bus stops at the district and taluka level by May end where mothers can breastfeed their babies.
This is being done so that women can feed their children in comfort while waiting at the bus stops. The MTDC has decided to name the cells in memory of Hirkani, a milkwoman in the 1600s, who crossed a steep wall of the Raigad fort to reach her child at home.
